President Joe Biden had been leaking his customary base voters so now they are turning their sights to Baby Boomers to shore up their lagging numbers. The problem is that this demographic remembers what it was like during the days of at that time, the nations worse President Jimmy Carter.
During the Carter years, as it is today, inflation was at an all time high, gas prices spiked, gas rationing was instituted and the smiling peanut farmer from Georgia was the laughing stock of the free world.
The similarities between Carter and Biden are eerily striking.
The Carter family was as sketchy as the Biden’s. Billy Beer was flowing all over the carpet at 1600 Pennsylvania. And Carter had troubles with warring factions in the Middle East much the same as Biden does today.
The most egregious similarity is the lack of confidence the American voter had in Carter is much the same as Biden. Many Baby Boomers, myself included came of voting age during the late 70’s and couldn’t wait to vote for Ronald Reagan. Carter had devastated the US economy and as most Boomers recall the gas rationing was our baptism and welcome to our first years of driving a car.
So if the Biden Adminstration hopes to get the Baby Boomers on board, they’d better hope it was the people living on earth at the time. The Baby Boomers of the late 70’s have a long memory and if history is any judge of the present, will delivery the White House to Donald Trump and not Joe “Jimmy Carter” Biden in 2024.
